My family and I started living in the Pergola District in November 2019. The ‘Pergolenviertel’ is located in Hamburg, Germany and about 1400 residential flats will be part to the district. This photo blog is about the experience of being one of the first residents in a new community built from scratch.

The local vegetation seems to be under construction too. Even when we first looked at our flat in its very raw form in late 2018, we noticed that the preservation of existing vegetation was prioritised and we thought this was great. With increase of hot summer days due to climate change, any leafy shade will certainly be most welcome.

Currently, there seems to be a flurry of planting activities, with trees planted along the Limaweg and the new footpath connection between the Limaweg/Veloroute 5 and Winterlindenweg. I also spotted some shrubs ready to find a new home along the Limaweg.
