My family and I started living in the Pergola District in November 2019. The ‘Pergolenviertel’ is located in Hamburg, Germany and about 1400 residential flats will be part to the district. This photo blog is about the experience of being one of the first residents in a new community built from scratch.

Walking in the dark

Walking in the dark

Even with Barking and Forgetful, it is daunting to walk around in, often, complete darkness. During our first week or so, our own building is pitch-black. Thankfully some streetlights are currently being installed along the new footpath that connects the Limaweg/Veloroute 5 with the Winterlindenweg. Mostly, when walking the dogs, I just see their glowing collars in front of me. The man insists on him doing the last late-night walk with the dogs. At first, I thought this was funny. But when a police car with full ‘Christmas-illumination’ sped along the Limaweg footpath, it now just seems the sensible thing to do.
