My family and I started living in the Pergola District in November 2019. The ‘Pergolenviertel’ is located in Hamburg, Germany and about 1400 residential flats will be part to the district. This photo blog is about the experience of being one of the first residents in a new community built from scratch.

We have moved in

The man, the daughter, dog Barking, dog Forgetful and I moved into the Pergola District in Hamburg, Germany at the end of last week. In a development of about 1400 flats, we are the first or second party to actually live here..this is purely judged by the complete lack of illumination late at night in any of the other flats. Like us, the people we can see across the square in the evenings seem to always carry a box. Us too. We carried a lot of boxes around our new place during the last 3 days. Still, the place feels nice already. Walking the dogs yesterday through what is, essentially, a massive building site, it struck me how we will be able to observe what is happening over the next few years in this new living quarter. So here is the start to capturing these observations.
