My family and I started living in the Pergola District in November 2019. The ‘Pergolenviertel’ is located in Hamburg, Germany and about 1400 residential flats will be part to the district. This photo blog is about the experience of being one of the first residents in a new community built from scratch.

Flooded

Teething problems are always the case in any new development. We got a really smelly teething problem today in our house: the cellar is flooded with greywater and the house stank..bad..in the afternoon. The Man let me know while I was at work outside of our home office and did not mince his words. When I got home, the problem was (at least provisionally) fixed by the Hamburg Water company and our building company. The cause of the stinky teething problem remains to be seen but I am pretty hopeful it is something that can be easily and long-term fixed, at least in the house. It has been raining heavily the last few days. I suspect that the public water drainage system is very full, and the pressure might have, quite literally, forced the problem to come to the fore.
