My family and I started living in the Pergola District in November 2019. The ‘Pergolenviertel’ is located in Hamburg, Germany and about 1400 residential flats will be part to the district. This photo blog is about the experience of being one of the first residents in a new community built from scratch.

April 2020 Perspectives

April 2020 Perspectives

It is incredibly dry this April in Hamburg and the building site is very dusty. We went from complete soggy weather to bone dry without any steps in between. Nonetheless the trees are starting to get their leaves and the City is regularly watering the developing greenery. We are also in the middle of the Corona crisis and the Man and I are struggling to cope with working and toddler childcare, so are many others in our development. COVID-19 facilitated contact between the many parents and the Daughter is tentatively making contact with other toddlers across the sandpit. We are also talking a lot to our neighbours and it is nice to meet more people that are starting to be the foundation of our still new neighbourhood. There are decidedly more civilians than builders to be seen in the inner courtyard.
